Ger Broderick: PGA Club Professional
Celebrating 30 Years at Kinsale (1996–2026)
Ger’s connection to Kinsale Golf Club runs deep; a local through and through, he grew up playing his junior golf on these very fairways. After honing his craft and completing his PGA training at Little Hay Golf Club (Hemel Hempstead) and Royal Tara Golf Club (Co. Meath), Ger returned home to take the reins as Head Professional in 1996.
The Pro Shop & Services
Ger maintains a premier retail experience for members and visitors alike. The Pro Shop is fully stocked with industry-leading hardware and apparel, including:
-Hardware: TaylorMade, Titleist, Ping, Callaway and many more.
-Events: Regular “Demo Days” featuring the latest technology and custom fitting opportunities.
-Expertise: Professional tuition and local course knowledge.
At Home in Kinsale
When he’s not at the club, Ger lives just outside the town with his wife and two children, continuing a lifelong association with the community he serves.

Walker Cup
From Farrangalway to the World Stage: John Murphy’s Kinsale Legacy

At Kinsale Golf Club, the name John Murphy represents more than just professional success; it represents the ultimate pathway from junior dreamer to international star. Long before he was competing on the DP World Tour, Murphy was a fixture at Farrangalway, known for a relentless work ethic and a short game sharpened by the coastal winds of West Cork.
The defining moment of his amateur career came in 2021, when he was selected for the 48th Walker Cup at Seminole, Florida. Representing Great Britain & Ireland, Murphy joined an elite pantheon of Irish legends like McIlroy and Lowry. His performance at Seminole was a masterclass in composure, proving that a kid from a local Irish club could go toe-to-toe with the world’s best.
Despite his global schedule, Murphy remains a “Kinsale man” through and through. His rise has electrified the club’s junior section, proving that the gap between the practice putting green in Cork and the fairways of the professional tours is bridgeable.
For the members of Kinsale, John isn’t just a name on an honors board; he is the heartbeat of the club’s modern history, a Walker Cup hero who never forgot his home port.
